The Forum on Markets Innovation and Capital (FOROMIC) conference will be held from October 24 to 26 in Montego Bay, St James.

FOROMIC is a space where business and financial institutions, particularly those working in microfinance and with micro, small, and medium enterprises, are able to showcase innovative products and services.

Information Minister Senator Ruel Reid gave details of the conference at a post-Cabinet press briefing, held recently at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kingston.

The annual symposium is hosted by the Multilateral Investment Fund, a member of the Inter-American Development Bank group. Senator Reid said the forum is an important event for businesses and financial innovators in the region.

"It is known as one of the most important marketplaces and conferences focusing on micro, small and medium enterprise finance and development in Latin America and the Caribbean," he added.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness will host the conference, with support from Minister of Finance and the Public Service Audley Shaw.

Representatives from 41 countries are expected to attend. These include experts in micro, small and medium enterprises; financial institutions; entrepreneurship associations; non-governmental organisations; and academic bodies.
