Clarendon man known as 'Virus' killed, allegedly by police

Residents of Webb Lane in Palmers Cross, Clarendon are alleging that police killed their neighbour Rohan Stephens in cold blood early this morning.

His mother says the 28-year-old man known to the community as 'Virus' was killed in his bed sometime after 4 o’clock this morning while he slept.

Residents say they heard a barrage of gunshots and later saw the police leaving the scene with Stephens' body.

While they admit he may have done wrong in the past, the residents say if he was wanted, the police could have taken him peacefully, and they didn't have to kill him.

INDECOM’s director with responsibility for Clarendon Dave Lewin has confirmed that his office has received a report about the incident.

He says a team from his office is still on the scene conducting its investigation and collecting statements.
