Caron Chung, executive director of the American Friends of Jamaica, was one of 12 honourees selected for 'Distinguished Leadership' by the Progressive Democrats Political Association award on Sunday, August 21, during a dinner cruise on the Hudson River in New York City.

Chung made the cut because of her commitment to impacting the lives of Jamaicans; raising the profile of a non-profit organisation within the diaspora on behalf of causes in Jamaica, and giving of herself in ways that inspire others to do the same.

In accepting the award Chung said, "It is an honour to receive recognition from prominent community leaders who have a history of being major change agents in the Caribbean community."
