Businessman Steven Causwell will have to wait another week to hear the sentence to be imposed by a High Court judge for the 2008 murder of his ex-girlfriend, Nadia Mitchell.

The 40-year-old was expected to be sentenced today in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston.

However, his lead attorney Jacqueline Samuels-Brown has requested additional time to put "certain matters" before the court "which could be of assistance".

"This will include sworn evidence but that person is abroad and won't return to the island until tomorrow," she explained.

The sentencing has been rescheduled to next Friday.

Earlier this month, Causwell was found guilty in a 6-1 majority verdict for Mitchell's murder at her Oaklands Apartments home.
