Elected JLP councillors summoned to meeting at party HQ
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has summoned all candidates who were victorious in last Monday’s Local Government Elections to a series of meetings at its St Andrew headquarters today.
Party insiders say high on the agenda is the selection of persons to serve as mayors in the eight municipal corporations now controlled by the JLP.
The JLP won control of the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation (KSAC), as well as the municipal corporations in Portland, St Mary, St Ann, St James, St Elizabeth, Clarendon and Trelawny.
The installation of mayors and councillors is scheduled to take place in all municipal corporations this Thursday.
According to one insider, victorious JLP candidates in each parish will caucus separately throughout the day to elect persons who will lead the respective municipal corporations.
