Tech Times | Christmas List Part 1: The bliss of receiving!

Published:Friday | December 9, 2016 | 12:00 AM

The one thing I hate about Christmas time is the office secret Santa hoopla. I must have been a very bad employee all these years, because I have never gotten anything worthwhile from my secret Santa. Anyhow, this is a list of Christmas gift ideas that persons can use as a guide.

For the movie lover in you

Tablets

I'm not talking about tablets like Panadol, but a mobile device that can save you from boredom on a long flight. Although there are many tablets on the market right now to choose from, they are a few that gives you more worth for your dollar. The Alcatel Pixi 3 (7)+ is one tablet that won't break the bank as a gift. This tablet features a quad-core processor, front and rear cameras, and even comes packaged with a case for less than $15,000.

If you are feeling in a more giving mood, then you can go with a bigger option like the Apple Ipad Air, which has more features.

For The Workaholic In You

Laptops

If you know that tablets just won't cut it for this Christmas and you need something more versatile that can do more work than play, then you should be considering a laptop. They are certain things you just can't do without, and a Windows platform is one of them. If you are always on the go and need a mobile alternative to a PC, then you should be asking for a laptop.

My recommendation in this category is the Lenovo IdeaPad line of products. They give the best of both worlds where beauty and performance is concerned. The Lenovo IdeaPad 110-15IBY is a solid budget choice if you are going to grow with your laptop.

You can also consider going for the higher option for gaming or some video editing. If that's your aim, then you might want to check out the Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 that has the power to do whatever you want.

For The Social Media Addict In You

Smartphones

When you are really into social media, you'll want the best photos to show your adventures and be connected when doing so. Thankfully, smartphones are a lot cheaper now than they were years ago. A smartphone like the Huawei G610 or the Huawei G Play Mini are both low- to mid-budget phones with good features and camera qualities. These two options won't break the bank either, so don't hesitate to mention them when the 'what do you want for Christmas?' topic comes around.
