PROFESSIONAL SERVICES firm KPMG Jamaica recently contributed dozens of used vinyl banners to the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo), which will transform them into schoolbags for distribution to various charities and schools, under its Banna Bags project.

KPMG was among the entities from corporate Jamaica who responded to a call by the utility company to donate their discarded, soiled or old vinyl banners.

"This initiative is a rather meaningful and innovative one as we are converting discarded materials into products that will be of great benefit to students," noted KPMG partner Wilbert Spence, who has responsibility for corporate citizenship. JPSCo will work with the Garmex Academy of the HEART Trust/NTA to produce the schoolbags.

"We are extremely delighted that KPMG has recognised the value of this initiative as we seek to protect the environment while providing students in need with schoolbags," said corporate communications coordinator at the JPSCo, Shenee Tabannah.

While extending its own thanks and commendations to those who joined in contributing to the effort, KPMG, in a release to the media, said: "This initiative reaffirms KPMG's commitment to contribute to communities and improve the lives of others".
