Family of missing St Ann teen still hopeful

Family members of 18-year-old Romaine Akeem Evans, who has been missing since December 16 last year, are expressing hope for his safe return.

Evans, a students at Marcus Garvey Technical High School in St Ann's Bay and resident of the nearby community of Windsor, was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark blue pants, after he left home saying he was going to the library in St Ann's Bay to do some school assignments. He was reportedly last seen near the Windsor Heights taxi stand in St Ann's Bay.

"I feel down, my head feels heavy like I'm going to black out. I pray for him so 'til mi weak. Mi cry, mi holla, mi bawl. I am feeling downcast, but I'm not giving up, one day God is going to bring him back," his mother Rosella Evans, a teacher, told The Gleaner.

"Him nuh dead. I've not got any vision about that, I'm not giving up on him."

QUIET YOUNGSTER

Romaine is a baptised member of the Windsor Church of Praise and has been described as a quiet and well-mannered young man who is easy to talk to.

Evans says calls to his cell phone go straight to voicemail.

She added that they had stolen Romaine's phone at school and she recently bought him a new one.

At school, he was also recently given a leadership position because of his exemplary performance at the institution.

Romaine's siblings, a sister and three brothers, are taking it hard, she explained. "They're taking it really bad, they miss him a whole lot, even his father. Every evening we look to see Romaine coming through the door. I just want him to come home," Evans said of her son.

Romaine celebrated his 18th birthday on November 19 and has been doing well in school. His career goal is to become a doctor.
