Are you a 'Tuff Warrior'?

Jamaican adventure-seekers, fitness buffs, endurance athletes and all those who love good, dirty, fun challenges will have the chance to test their endurance and resilience during the Tru-Juice Tuff Warrior Challenge set for Sunday, April 2 at the Tru-Juice Orchards in Bog Walk, St Catherine.
The Tuff Warrior Challenge is a muddy five-mile obstacle course for everyone, from beginners to seasoned athletes. The challenge includes obstacles designed to test your physical strength and mental resolve.
Brought to you by One Nation Event Entertainment Limited, the Tru-Juice Tuff Warrior Challenge also encourages teamwork, camaraderie, leadership, but most of all, it's fun. According to Martin Lewis, organiser of the event, the fast- growing popularity of functional fitness events globally has caught on in Jamaica.
"Having completed successful stagings of the Tuff Warrior Challenge, we continue to deliver on the promise of providing high-quality, exciting, healthy-lifestyle entertainment events. Apart from the large group of persons wanting to participate in these events, they have also grown into mega-spectator sports that capture the attention of large audiences," Lewis said.
Lewis encouraged corporate companies looking to encourage team-building awareness to get involved. Early-bird tickets start at $US55 and are available up to February 28. Regular tickets are available from March 1 to April 1 at a cost of US$65. Team discounts are available, with up to 20 per cent off for teams with more than 20 members.
RAISING FUNDS
The objective of the challenge is to raise funds for the autism project that covers a week of activities, dedicated to raising funds for the Green Frog Grey Elephant Foundation. The foundation was established to raise autism awareness, especially for teens and young adults who are affected by the disorder.
Lewis indicated that, more importantly, they want to address the need to assist those teens and young adults with autism to gain a wide spread of opportunities for independent living.
"Over the years, there has been a significant input of provisions at the early-childhood and primary levels for this disorder, but rarely any focus on the older body of autistic students," he said.
The aim, he said, is to create transitional and vocational programmes and activities that will benefit young adults and families affected by autism across Jamaica.
