29-year-old man gets four life sentences for Clarendon quadruple murder

The Clarendon man convicted of the gruesome 2015 quadruple murder of four people, including three students, has been sentenced to four terms of life imprisonment and will have to serve 60 years before he becomes eligible for parole.

Twenty-nine-year-old Jermaine Turner was sentenced in the Home Circuit Court in downtown Kingston today.

Justice Dale Palmer, who presided over the case, ordered that Turner serve 30 years in prison on each count and that the first two sentences are to run after each other.

The other two are to run at the same time.

Turner was convicted on March 7 of killing 14-year-old Raymond Givans, a student of Vere Technical High School; Ricardo Briscoe, also 14, of Garvey Maceo High School; 16-year-old Alex Turner, who attended Central High; and Marquis Hamilton, a 35-year-old accounts clerk at the Sugar Company of Jamaica.

The killing evoked shock and anger across the nation.

Prosecutor Kelly Ann Boyne led evidence that Hamilton and his common-law wife were at their Shrimp Street home in the Monymusk Housing Scheme on April 15, 2015 when the three boys stopped to used their unsecured wireless Internet service.

It's reported that Turner and another man approached the couple and brandished guns.

Prosecutors say he instructed his accomplice to rob them, but Hamilton's female companion managed to escape.

According to the evidence, Turner then ordered Hamilton and the three boys to lay down before shooting them execution-style in the head and chest.
