'Logos Hope' to welcome Jamaicans on board

The world's largest book fair, Logos Hope, will pull into the Cement Factory Pier at Rockfort, Kingston on Friday, with an expansive selection of 5,000 titles for sale to the Jamaican public at prices below market, as well as access to events on board.

The ship will be on the island for eight weeks: from May 12 to June 11 in Kingston, and June 15 to July 2 in Montego Bay.

In addition to its wide inventory of books for sale, this unique vessel, with 400 international crew members, will offer exclusive events on board for people of all ages. Guests will be able to experience the various cultures through storytelling and interactive programmes.

These include a theatrical production: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe on Sunday, May 21 beginning at 2:30 p.m., and Sunday, May 28 to start at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, May 19 at 6 p.m. there will be a dance presentation featuring crew members from various cultures and young Jamaican artistes on board the ship.

Visitors to Deck 4, which is the ship's visitor experience section, will be able to move from the Welcome Area, which introduces the vessel through a short movie and interactive displays, to the International Cafe, which has ice cream, drinks and snacks for sale, there is sure to be something for everyone.

Opening hours will be: Tuesdays to Saturdays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday - 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. The ship will be closed on Mondays. The one exception to those opening hours will be on Friday, May 12, when the Logos Hope will be opened from 12 noon to 9 p.m.

Logos Hope is operated by GBA Ships e.V., an international, charitable organisation registered in Germany. Since 1970, the organisation has welcomed more than 45 million visitors up its gangways in more than 150 countries and territories around the world.
