No word on whether SDC has cut rate for CDF projects
It remains unclear whether the Social Development Commission (SDC) has complied with the directive to slash the rate it charges to implement education assistance programmes financed by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Moveta Munroe, who heads the CDF Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister, was unable to provide a clear answer when questioned yesterday.

She said, however, that a commitment has been given by the finance minister, Audley Shaw, that the rate would be moved down to 2.5 per cent this year.

But Muroe said the CDF Unit has not confirmed whether the SDC has implemented this rate reduction.

According to Munroe, she will be making checks with the SDC and will be able to give an answer on the matter to the committee next week.

She was responding to a question from committee member, Mikael Phillips who asked whether the five per cent fee rate was still in effect, since some of the project proposals being approved had the rate, while others had the proposed rate of 2.5 per cent.
