There has been a more than 100 per cent increase in the number of persons killed in Hanover since the start of the year.

The Hanover Police report that since January 1, 31 murders have been reported across the parish.

This compares with the 12 murders recorded in Hanover over the corresponding period last year.

The latest killings happened last night when a woman and her adult son were attacked by unknown assailants in Middlesex district.

The police say 45-year-old shopkeeper Juliet Grant and her 24-year-son Romario Daley were at home with family members when two gunmen, wearing face masks, entered and demanded money.

It is reported that Grant and Daley attempted to escape, but were chased and shot several times.
