Windalco kicks off summer employment programme with 45 students

Forty-five students from tertiary institutions across the island will be employed by West Indies Alumina Company (Windalco) during the months of June, July and August in the company's 2017 Summer Employment Programme.

The programme began on June 1.

The bauxite mining company will be investing more than J$3.5 million to provide practical experience to the students in the fields of engineering (mechanical, electrical, industrial, civil), information technology, human resources, and procurement.

Human resources generalist at Windalco, Rhena Gregory, says the summer employment programme will not just enable students to earn while they learn, but it will provide the company with an opportunity to look at potential employees.
