JN Bank salutes public-sector workers

Public-sector workers were the toast of JN Bank recently as the country's largest indigenous commercial bank hosted cocktails at its chief office in Half-Way Tree.

Chair of the evening, Onika Miller, managing director of The MCS Group, reminded the members of the public sector of their worth to the Jamaican economic landscape and their importance to the country's day-to-day operations.

Using the concept of the Danger of the Single Story proffered by Nigerian author, Chimamda Adiche, Miller, who is a former permanent secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, said stereotypes of public-sector employees affect their integrity and dignity.

She urged them not to allow those stereotypes to become their stories.

"The story of a few public-sector employees have become the story of the whole public sector, when, in fact, there are many public-sector employees who are performing, overperforming, delivering quality, and are being efficient," she said.

She assured the employees that the JN Bank was ready to assist public-sector workers with creating a new and complete narrative about themselves.
