Widespread exposure of children to violence fuelling bad behaviour – police

A senior policeman believes the widespread exposure of children to violence is fuelling violent behaviour among young people.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Fitz Bailey, head of the Area Two Police Division, says children are being exposed to too much violence.
He is urging parents to reduce the exposure of their children to violent behaviour and activities.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Salmon Basic School in Exchange, Ocho Rios, St Ann yesterday, ACP Bailey said poor parenting skills is resulting in children being shown violent material on television, among other sources.
He has also shared that he gets depressed by the level of violent crimes which dominate the evening news.
The senior cop says this will have to change if the country is to get rid of the high rate of crime and violence in the society.
ACP Bailey adds that the country will not achieve the Vision 2030 targets if it continues on this path.
