With scores of Clarendon communities still struggling to return to normalcy following the devastating May rains, President of the Clarendon Chamber of Commerce Dr Winston Dawes is calling for a revamp of the parish’s infrastructure.
The chamber president argues that in his 40 years operating in Clarendon, he has witnessed numerous development projects that have been implemented in the parish.
But he says the state’s infrastructure, and specifically the drainage system, has not improved accordingly.
The often outspoken chamber president also says the problem of flooding is further compounded by the poor disposal of garbage, and the excessive mining of the Rio Minho for aggregate.
