Public transport operators urged to up personal security
Transport lobby group, Transport Operators Development Sustainable Service, is appealing to public passenger operators across the island to step up their personal security in light of the recent murder of a Clarendon taxi operator.
Fifty-seven-year-old Calvast Blake, who is of a May Pen address, was shot and killed on Tuesday night after letting off passengers in the Bushy Parka area in the parish.
Two women who were passengers in the taxi were also shot and injured.
The group’s president, Egerton Newman, says he strongly condemns the attack.
According to Newman, some 25 transport operators have been murdered since the start of the year,
He is encouraging transport operators to be more vigilant especially at nights.
Newman is also urging operators to pay keen attention to their passengers.
