Tropical Storm Harvey continues on path across eastern, central Caribbean, warning issued

The National Meterological Service has issued a warning to persons on the cays and banks along the south coast to remain in safe harbour and exercise extreme caution.

The Met Service is urging small craft operators and other marine interests not to venture out to sea.

The warnings come as Tropical Storm Harvey continues to move across the eastern and central Caribbean.

Up to early this morning, the storm was located 375 kilometres east northeast of Curacao with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometres per hour.

The Met Service says on its current path, Harvey is not a direct threat to Jamaica, but adds that the centre of the storm is expected to pass to the south of the island.

As a result, it says the island should experience cloudy conditions with showers and thunderstorms, starting tomorrow into Monday.
