Montague says negligent cops will have to pay for damaged service vehicles
National Security Minister Robert Montague is warning negligent cops who damage service vehicles while on duty that they will have to pay for the repairs.
According to Montague, the cost to undertake the repairs will be deducted from the salaries of the implicated cops.
He was speaking in St Ann during a ceremony where four new Suzuki Vitara motor vehicles were presented to the Area Two Police.
Area Two comprises St Ann, St Mary and Portland.
Each parish will get one vehicle with the other going to the Area Two headquarters, located in Tower Isle, St Mary.
The national security minister explained that the four vehicles are part of a fleet of 24 that the government is delivering to the police island wide.
Montague noted that the vehicles are equipped with trackers.
Head of Area Two Assistant Commissioner of Police Norman Heywood, is grateful for the additional vehicles.
