The SVREL team visited Cedar Grove Basic on Monday to hand over their symbolic cheque for $250,000, as well as to hand out back-to-school packages to students.

After operating in the community of Portmore for the last six months, Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Supreme Ventures Limited, is weaving itself inextricably into the fabric of the municipality through its community outreach. After sponsoring the Portmore Jamboree to the tune of J$1 million in August, SVREL will now be contributing J$2 million to five schools in Portmore to assist with upgrades and repairs for the new school year.

"We went around and had a look at the schools directly within the vicinity of Caymanas Park and chose the ones we felt were in greatest need," said Kathryn Clark-Spencer, SVREL marketing and operations manager. Independence City Primary, Gregory Park Primary, Cedar Grove Basic, Gregory Park Basic and Waterford Primary are the recipients of repair work ranging in cost from $250,000 to $500,000 each.
