For the lower sixth form student, motivation is all around her as she gets it from her parents, teachers and friends.

"I have also developed internal motivation, which is the deep desire to succeed," she said, pointing out that during her study time, she curtailed social media and phone activities to a minimum, using the Internet only for research.

"These practices were done during my five years at high school, and not just in fifth form," she said.

According to Chavonae, she has always been a disciplined child, hence the study habits she developed from primary school at Mineral Heights, which earned her a 99.4 per cent average in the Grade Six Achievement Test.

"My parents, who are both teachers, encourage me and provide support physically, spiritually and emotionally. I relax by drawing, reading and kicking football on the wall," Chavonae said was her relaxing mechanism.
