Senior citizen chopped, shot; mason attacked in Clarendon

A 78-year-old retiree of Rock Road, Osbourne Store, Clarendon was last night killed by unknown assailants.

The victim, James Blackstock, was both shot and chopped.

According to police reports, residents heard several explosions and summoned them.

Upon arrival at the scene they found Blackstock suffering from what appears to be gunshot wounds all over his body and a chop wound to his head.

He was taken to the May Pen Hospital where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.

No motive has been established for his killing

Meanwhile, a mason was shot and injured in the community of Havanna Heights, Phase II, Denbigh.

It is reported that about 8:30 p.m. the victim was sitting on his verandah having a meal when three masked men turned up at his gate.

He went to the gate to ask what was happening when one of the men brandished a handgun and tried to push the gate open. 

The mason leaned on the gate to prevent it from being opened, one of the assailants shot him, hitting him in the left side of his shoulder.

He was taken to the May Pen Hospital where he was admitted in stable condition.
