71-y-o Canadian man, J'can woman slapped with drugs charges at NMIA

A Canadian man and Jamaican woman were charged separately yesterday for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
The Corporate Communication Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) reported that the Jamaican woman was arrested after cocaine weighing about 2.5 kilogrammes was allegedly found on her during a detailed search.
The CCU said the woman identified as 35-year-old Julia Maragh, of Hellshire, St Catherine was set to board a flight to Miami about 2:15 p.m. when she was search.
The cocaine has been valued at $3.2 million.
After being interviewed in the presence of her lawyer, Maragh was charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and taking preparatory steps to export cocaine.
She is scheduled to appear in the St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, October 4.
And the Canadian national identified as 71-year-old Derrick Harmon was arrested after a powdery white substance was allegedly found in a package labelled as Soy beverage in his luggage.
After examination by detectives, the substance was found to be cocaine. It is estimated to value $768,000.
Harmon was subsequently charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and taking preparatory steps to export cocaine.
He is scheduled to appear in the St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday, October 3.
