Recognising that Jamaica desperately needs increased productivity if it is to achieve its economic growth target, Make Your Mark Consultants (MYMC) is pulling together a high-powered team to offer solutions to major players in the private and public sectors.

MYMC, in collaboration with the Jamaica Productivity Centre, will be hosting a Productivity and Continuous Improvement conference on October 19 in New Kingston to tackle this critical issue.

According to Jacqueline Coke-Lloyd, managing director of MYMC, for both public and private sector organisations productivity growth is important because providing more goods and services to consumers translates to higher profits and financial stability.

"Leaders, managers and team leaders in a given organisation are concerned with maximising productivity through process-oriented observations and improvements," said Coke-Lloyd.

"As productivity increases, an organisation can turn resources into revenues, paying stakeholders and retaining cash flows for future growth and expansion. Productivity leads to competitiveness and potentially competitive advantages," added Coke-Lloyd

She said the conference will be geared towards those who need to keep abreast of new thinking in productivity and continuous improvement, and persons who need a deeper understanding of what drives individual behaviour and group dynamics.

"It's designed for those who need to hone their transformation skills, to get results that matter, those about to embark on leading a change programme within their organisation ... and individuals who need to understand measurement, benchmarking and business process improvement."

Coke-Lloyd said she expects that at the end of the conference participants will be able to manage and lead more effectively in areas including waste reduction, continuous improvement, business intelligence, skills and training, and process efficiency, among other management techniques.
