The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says a major multi-agency transnational investigation is now under way with their United States’ law enforcement counterparts following the massive gun seizure in Miami.

The police say the guns and ammunition were inside barrels and cardboard boxes that were to be shipped to Montego Bay, St James.

According to the police, on November 13, US law enforcement were conducting routine security screening at the Miami International Airport in Florida when they came across two blue barrels and two cardboard boxes.

They say the containers were listed as containing household and food items.

The JCF says when the containers were searched, they found 119 firearms and 267 assorted rounds of ammunition.

Among the weapons comprise four rifles and 115 pistols.
