Justice Minister Delroy Chuck has suggested that talks for the de-garrisonisation of communities should be a top priority when the Vale Royal Talks are revived next year.

Chuck was updating the Parliament on the steps being taken in relation to recommendations arising from the report of the West Kingston Commission of enquiry.

He says the process of de-garrisonisation will be a process of unprecedented proportions.

However, he said politicians and their political parties owe it to Jamaicans to usher in a new beginning.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the impending resumption of the Vale Royal Talks yesterday in the House of Representatives.

He said the first of those meetings will take place in the second week of January.

The talks were initiated a decade-and-a-half ago by the former prime minister, P.J. Patterson.

The aim was to seek political consensus on matters that the society believed should be above partisanship.

Crime and education were at the top of the list.
