Senator Ruel Reid, (left) Minister of Education, Youth and Information cuts the ribbon marking the official opening of the Shared Facilities Building at the University of Technology (UTech), Jamaica Papine Campus last Thursday.
The building contains 20 smart classrooms, three state-of-the-art lecture theatres, computer laboratories, sanitary conveniences and an amphitheatre.
The new building is one of the major infrastructural outcomes of the UTech, Jamaica Enhancement Project facilitated by a loan agreement of US$25.87 million between the Government of Jamaica and the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), with counterpart funding of US$16.78 million by UTech.
The Project proceeded under the three main components of Institutional Strengthening, Building and Civil Works, and Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment.
