The Jamaica Public Service Company Limited (JPS) says it installed 36,400 LED streetlights across the island last year.

JPS says this exceeded its target of 35,000.

The energy efficient street lamps have been installed in sections of Kingston & St Andrew, St James, St Ann, Trelawny, St Mary, Hanover, Westmoreland, and St Catherine.

JPS says the LED streetlights are capable of remotely reading the consumption of each lamp; identifying out-of-service lamps and provide for the dimming of lights when necessary.

The newly installed lights can also provide improved quality and reliability of streetlighting and are designed in line with international best practices.
