Several detained in security operation in Spanish Town

Several persons were detained Friday in a joint police-military operation in the Jones Avenue community in Spanish Town, St Catherine, where a curfew has been imposed.
Ground Commander in charge of the operation Superintendent Ralsford Hardy says the operation is an aggressive response to crime by the security forces.

Superintendent Hardy says the police are determined to take control of the crime situation in the community.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Jamaica Public Service were included in the operation.
Some 70 illegal connections were removed.
