A section of the main road between Falmouth and Wakefield in Trelawny is now impassable due to persistent rains affecting the parish.

The Trelawny office of the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is reporting that a section of the road in the vicinity of Moorefield, en route to Wakefield is flooded.

The shortest alternative route from Falmouth to Wakefield is via Good Hope.

In the meantime, Councillor Jonathan Bartley says the problem can be solved by correcting flaws to the drainage system in the area. Based on his assessment, he says the water is flowing through the drain as it should and this is causing the flooding.
