The St James policeman who stole a motorcycle that was being held as evidence at the Barnett Street Police Station is to be sentenced on Tuesday, April 10 after pleading guilty in the St James Parish Court.

Constable Jhanoye Johnson was charged with larceny on Wednesday by detectives from MOCA West following his arrest on Wednesday, January 31.

The police reported that on Friday, January 26, a Sergeant at the police station observed that a motorcycle which was seized early last year and was being stored on the compound was missing.

They say further enquiries led to the sergeant questioning Constable Johnson about a motorcycle which he drove onto the compound that was similar to the missing bike.

Detectives from MOCA West were contacted and an investigation conducted.

MOCA says during an interview session Constable Johnson confessed to removing the motorcycle from the station compound and making modifications to it.
