PNP confirms Neita-Robertson's interest in representing party, eyes next general election
The People’s National Party (PNP) has confirmed that top criminal defence attorney Valerie Neita-Robertson has expressed an interest in representing the party in the next general election.
PNP insiders say Neita-Robertson has indicated that she wants to be the party’s candidate in west Portland, the constituency now represented by the Jamaica Labour Party’s Daryl Vaz.
Speaking to The Gleaner/Power106 News Centre today, PNP General Secretary Julian Robinson confirmed that the well-known attorney has applied to become the party’s standard-bearer in west Portland, but says nothing has been confirmed.
Robinson says, like other prospective candidates, there are a number of processes she will have to go through, including facing the party’s integrity commission.
He says those processes are to be completed shortly.
