The Narcotics Police have arrested and charged a St Andrew man in relation to the seizure of more than 4,000 pounds of compressed ganja at a shipping terminal in Kingston in January.

Thirty-nine-year-old Silvan Brown has been charged with possession of ganja, dealing in ganja, taking steps preparatory to export ganja, use of conveyance and conspiracy.

The police say Brown was arrested during an operation in Meadowbrook, St Andrew on Saturday.

They say during the operation a sum of money was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Brown was charged under the Dangerous Drugs Act after he was interviewed in the presence of his Attorney-at-law.

Brown is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court tomorrow.
