It would cost a staggering US$150 million to rebuild the Cornwall Regional Hospital (CRH) were it to be demolished and rebuilt.
That's according to Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton, responding to the suggestion from some stakeholder.
"It is not something we could do now because the estimated cost is at almost nine times the cost to repair the issues affecting the building," Tufton told The Gleaner.
Tufton did not dismiss the idea but said he was particularly interested in getting the main building of the CRH back in full operation.
"That idea would have to be brought into a broader discussion, but, until then, we have to move to deal with addressing the current situation in the main building," Tufton said.
