C-TOC has seized $615M worth of counterfeit goods since January

The police’s ongoing crackdown on counterfeit goods has resulted in an estimated $615 million worth of fake goods being seized since the start of the year.

Head of the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC), Assistant Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, made the disclosure today while speaking at a Gleaner Editors’ Forum.

Bailey further disclosed that the police seized approximately $1.2 billion worth of counterfeit goods last year.

“As a branch, we will go wherever we need to go to treat with the issue of counterfeit. Wherever the evidence leads, wherever we identify assets, we will apply the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) to seize the property,” said Bailey.
