The Central Police are reporting that they seized a Glock 22 pistol and thirty-two .40 cartridges and have arrested and charged a man in relation to the find.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is 20-year-old Omally Christobell, otherwise called Mali of St. John’s Lane in Kingston, who is to appear in the Gun Court on Friday, April 27.

The police say yesterday afternoon around 12:45 p.m. a team from the Proactive Investigations Unit was conducting a patrol in the area when they saw Christobell acting in a manner that aroused their suspicion.

On seeing the team, he reportedly ran and was chased and caught.

The police say he was searched and the firearm loaded with thirteen cartridges was taken from his waistband.

The police say a search was also conducted at his house and an additional nineteen rounds of ammunition were allegedly found inside a bedside table.

He was subsequently charged.
