Sashawn wants to beat GSAT scores at Holy Childhood

When Sashawn Hall of Ocho Rios Primary School begins classes at Holy Childhood High in September, she wants better grades than the 92 per cent average she got in the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT).

Hall got scores of 96 per cent in mathematics, 94 per cent in social studies, 92 per cent in science, 86 per cent in language arts and 11/12 (92) in communication task to emerge as one of the top performers from her school.

She expressed joy at being placed at one of Jamaica's top-performing high schools and is bent on doing well there.

Asked how she expects to perform at Holy Childhood, the confident girl replied, "I expect to get better grades than what I got in GSAT. I just need to be more focused on my work."

And focused she has been, according to grandmother and guardian Yvette Foreman.

"At home she is very reserved and she loves books. She just loves to read, so I'm not surprised she got good grades, I was looking for them," Foreman offered.

Hall is at a point where she is yet to decide on a clear career choice, as she explained to The Gleaner.

For the rest of the summer holidays, Hall is hoping to get her textbooks early so she can begin familiarising herself with the subject matters, as she aims to shine academically at Holy Childhood.
