Gospel singer Kevin Downswell will head a list of gospel artistes who are slated to perform at the Jamaica Cancer Society St Ann and St Mary Branch's Relay for Life at Turtle River Park, Ocho Rios, St Ann today.

St Ann gospel artistes Gospel Head and Prince Hall are also down to perform at the event, which will also feature a reggae segment.

Downswell's appearance on the show marks a continuing trend of gospel artistes supporting the cause of the Cancer Society in its efforts to fight the disease, with the branch targeting five million dollars this year to continue its work.

Headliner Kevin Downswell is well known for several hit songs, including You Make Me Stronger and If Not You, both from the 2017 album The Search Continues, and tracks like Already Done with Ryan Marks, I Feeling Like Running, All The Way, Close To You, God is Moving, among others.

Prince Hall and Gospel Head are both coming off Hall's fundraising album launch earlier at the same venue.

The launch of the album, We Believe, saw proceeds from the event going towards building a house for a destitute man in Hall's community of Harrison Town in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Major Project

The work on the house began earlier this year, continued in May as a major project for Labour Day, and continued after the album launch.

We Believe contains the title track, plus Just Like A Wave, I'll Trust You Lord, Give You All The Glory, and others.

Gospel Head, in the meantime, has been having a quiet time as far as his career is concerned. However, a fabulous performance on the We Believe show, where he was well received, and Saturday's Relay For Life performance, set to be just as good, signal the start of what should be a positive second half of the year.

Gospel Head, whose real name is Cleverton Morrison, is known for tracks such as Pray Fi Dem, Sin is Like a Tall Building, Mi Did Mean and I Am Blessed.

Relay For Life has been shifted this year from an overnight event and will instead run from noon to midnight on Saturday.
