Brilliant Briana! 16-y-o set 200m record at World U-20 championship
Following her impressive win in the 100 metres two days ago, Jamaica's 16-year-old standout Briana Williams returned today and wrote her name in the record books at the IAAF World Under 20 Championships.
Williams completed the sprint double by winning the 200 metres in a championship record and personal best 22.50 seconds.
The previous record was 23.11 seconds.
American favourite Lauren Rain Williams was second in 23.09 seconds while Poland's Natyna Kotwila finished third in a national record and personal best 23.21 seconds.
Williams, who is coached by Trinidadian Olympian Ato Boldon, covered her rivals coming off the curve before racing away for an easy victory.
Jamaican sprint star Veronica Campbell Brown also completed the sprint double at the World Under 20 Championships held in Santiago, Chile in 2000.
