MoBay’s Rotary Club welcomes Dr Fields

Dr Kinara Fields, a general practitioner who serves both the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St James and the Noel Holmes Hospital in Westmoreland, is the latest inductee in the Rotary Club of Montego Bay.
The CARICOM national, who hails from Barbados, had her early training in England before completing her medical degree in Cuba in 2007.
"I feel honoured to be a member of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay, and I see this service organisation as my new family," said Fields.
Through her association with the Montego Bay-based club, Fields has tasked herself to a future of greater service to assist the needy, to alleviate suffering, and to play her part in meeting the humane and noble objectives of Rotary International.
Natasha Parchment-Clarke, president of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay, was delighted in offering a warm welcome to Fields, who was sponsored by Dr Angela Davis, who introduced the doctor to the Rotary organisation.
"We believe your sterling character qualities will make you an asset in furthering the ideals and objectives of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay," said Parchment-Clarke.
PLANNED PROJECTS
For the administrative year 2018-19, the club, which is operating under its 2018-19 theme, 'Be the Inspiration,' is all set to pursue a number of initiatives, to include environmental projects to support programmes that promote the preservation and protection of the wetlands, trees and oceans; National Tree Planting Day; World Wetlands Day; and Earth Day.
Barry Rassin, Rotary Inter-national's president, has placed great emphasis on youth and environment to ensure that young people are fully sensitised and involved in projects that preserve and protect the environment. This club plans to extend the mandate to the youth arm of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay - the Rotaractors and Interactors.
The club also plans to continue its various special projects that involve the provision of water tanks for schools and the Christmas Hampers initiative, which provides scholarships and support to organisations that serve the disabled and needy in the community.
