Police kill 2 in Dampie, Clarendon

Two men were killed in an alleged confrontation with the police early this morning in the community of Dampie, an area close to Mineral Heights in Clarendon.
Information reaching The Gleaner is that a police team was conducting an operation in the area when they were reportedly greeted with gunfire from assailants.
The police say the gunfire was returned and when the shooting subsided, the two men were allegedly found suffering from gunshot wounds.
According to the police, two illegal firearms were also found.
A member of the police team was also shot in the leg.
All three injured persons were taken to the May Pen Hospital where the gunmen were pronounced dead and the police constable admitted for treatment.
He is said to be in stable condition.
