The Ministry of Science and Technology is reporting that Chief Technical Director with responsibility for Information Communication Technology Wahkeen Murray is now providing oversight for its day-to-day operations following the departure of Permanent Secretary Hillary Alexander.

Alexander, who was at the helm of the ministry for nine years, retired last week.

The ministry says the departure follows the expiration of a two-year extension of her tenure, which was approved for May 2016, and which was further extended to August 16, 2018.

It says before demitting office Alexander met with the various Heads of Agencies and Departments under the Ministry.

The ministry says the former permanent secretary thanked the team for their stellar support over the years and reminded staff of the core principles to guide their work and future engagement.

“Focus on the vision, focus on our core principles, integrity, mutual respect, teamwork, professionalism, our commitment to service excellence and remember a sense of humour”.

Alexander had oversight of the development of priority government policies and the implementation of strategic projects geared to achieving sustainable growth and development and the enhanced competitiveness of Jamaica’s industries.
