The University of the West Indies (UWI) is expressing confidence in the integrity and security of its information systems, including its stored data and computer networks.

However, The UWI said it remains vigilant in the face of existing and emerging threats.

In its 70th year, the university said it has fully embraced the benefits of technology and is currently engaged in what it describes as digital transformation with a view to radically enhance processes and decision making to significantly improve student success and business outcomes.

How The UWI ensures the integrity of its information systems:

• Governance - information integrity policies, controls, decision-rights and accountability frameworks to be applied to the management of all information systems.

• Risk Assessment - reviews to assess risks to system and data integrity (with a focus on threats and vulnerabilities).

• Compliance - audits of the university's information systems to determine if controls are being executed as designed and audit trails are being maintained as stipulated.
