The SOS Children's Village has received much-needed support from the Sagicor Foundation to help with outfitting its music room at the Kingston location and to assist with renovations at the Montego Bay property. Some $1 million was procured for the musical equipment and another $1 million for renovations.

The donation is from proceeds of the 2018 Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run; the charity run raised $50 million, with all proceeds being donated to four beneficiaries. The other beneficiaries are the Spanish Town Hospital Neonatal Unit, St Christopher's School for the Deaf and the Davina Bennett Foundation.

"We understand that homes like SOS Children's Village face significant challenges in meeting the demands to care for all their wards. I cannot underscore how honoured we are to play our part as good corporate citizens by providing the necessary tools to create a comfortable space and promising vocational skills for our nation's future generation," said R. Danny Williams, chairman of the Sagicor Foundation.

Speaking on behalf of SOS Children's Village, National Director Nadine Williams expressed her appreciation to the Sagicor Foundation for the donation and noted that the musical instruments will go a far way in developing the village's music programme. Additionally, she was quite pleased with the contribution for the renovations works to be done, which will help to enhance the physical environment of the home.
