SVL handed over $650,000 in back-to-school assistance under its #SimplyVestedInLove campaign.

Days after its recently concluded back-to-school outreach, #SimplyVestedInLove, Supreme Ventures Limited (SVL) has donated more than half a million dollars in vouchers to a local charitable organisation, Gift of Love Foundation, to assist students of Nine Turns Basic School, Clarendon.

The donation, valuing $650,000, was made recently at the school to one of the founders of Gift of Love, Ayesha Allen, while students, parents and teachers looked on.

Supreme Ventures reached out to the Gift of Love Foundation after hearing about their work with the school, which focused mainly on buying shoes and other items for each of the 35 students. Having just assisted more than 200 students with more than $2 million in back-to-school assistance through its #SimplyVestedInLove programme, Supreme Ventures was more than willing to assist the Gift of Love Foundation in this effort.

SMALL ACTS OF KINDNESS

SVL's assistant vice-president for group corporate communications, Simone Clarke-Cooper, says there were many similarities between Gift of Love and #SimplyVestedinLove which made the synergy a natural one.

"What drew us to the Gift of Love Foundation was the way they focused on performing small acts of kindness to make a big difference in the lives of the children of Nine Turns. #SimplyVestedInLove shares this philosophy. When we saw what Ayesha was trying to do, we were moved to support the efforts at the school," Clarke-Cooper said.

The assistance given to the Gift of Love included vouchers that will allow for the procurement of stationery, books and any other items needed for students and the school for the next two years.

"This is the biggest donation we have received so far. We really appreciate it, and to know that it is something long term and can sustain them for a good period of time, is very important to us," Allen said.

In a similar fashion to the online-based #SimplyVestedinLove, Allen explained that the Gift of Love Foundation accepts nominations through its Facebook page from persons who are seeking help for others in their community,

"We had a call for nominations on our social media and we asked persons to nominate schools that they thought would need assistance, and we specified rural schools. Based on all the nominations we received, we chose Nine Turns Basic School. The children are so smart, so I'm so glad we chose them so they can get the assistance they need to further their education," she said.

Part of the assistance Supreme Ventures has provided to Nine Turns Basic School and the Gift of Love Foundation directly relates to their shoe drive for the new school year.
