Nominations have opened for the 2018 American Chamber of Commerce in Jamaica (AMCHAM) Business and Civic Leadership Awards.

Now in its ninth year, the AMCHAM Business and Civic Leadership Awards have become the benchmark for corporate social responsibility recognition within the Jamaican business community.

"We are seeking nominations for game changers: individuals, businesses, and non-profit organisations that have made a significant contribution to national development - over the last five years or more - through their leadership, stewardship and community-building activities," stated Gail Abrahams, chief executive officer of the American Chamber of Commerce in Jamaica.

The Business and Civic Leadership Awards are presented in two categories, with seven awards being offered. They include two awards of excellence for corporate social responsibility - for small and large companies - and five awards of excellence for civic leadership.

In previous years, the Digicel Foundation and the Heart Institute of the Caribbean have received the Award for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility.

The awards for excellence for civic leadership are presented to an individual, small non-profit organisation, small foundation, large non-profit organisation, and a large foundation. The Rotary Club of Kingston and Sagicor Group were previous recipients of the Award of Excellence for Civic Leadership.

Additionally, Jean Lowrie-Chin and Professor Ernest Madu have received the award for their individual contributions.

Nominations for the coveted civic and leadership awards close on Friday, October 19. Winners will be announced at the AMCHAM Business and Civic Leadership Awards Gala on November 8, 2018.
