The Cheapside community in south St Elizabeth remains in fear after three men were shot, one fatally, last night during a drive-by shooting at a bar in the community.

The drive-by shooting has also given rise to concerns that the area could be placed under an entertainment ban leading up to the Christmas season.

The deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Kevin Campbell, of Bull Savannah, St Elizabeth.

The other two men have been hospitalised. Their conditions are not known at this time.

Reports are that sometime after 7:00 p.m. the men were at a bar in the community when a car drove up and men alighted.

The men reportedly asked for a person by name. The person in question responded after which several gunshots were heard.

The three men who were outside the bar were found suffering from gunshot wounds.

Campbell died on the spot, while the other two were rushed to hospital where they were admitted.

Head of operations for the St Elizabeth Police Division, DSP Anton Cardoza, who visited the scene, said a motive has not yet been determined for the gun attack.

Cardoza is appealing to persons who can assist with the investigation to contact the Junction police at 876-607-8239 or the CIB office in Black River at 876-985-2026.
