Freedom - The Blood of Jesus - Part II

Published:Thursday | October 25, 2018 | 12:00 AM

Last week, we looked at how we can plead the blood of Jesus to address the accusations of the devil and referenced the Passover in the Old Testament to explain its significance. Pleading the blood of Jesus is one of our primary weapons against the enemy, enabling us to walk free to do God's will in our lives.

As Christians, we can look at four things which took place at the Passover which apply directly to our lives today.

1. The Blood Provides Protection

To get the Egyptians to let His people go God sent a plague to destroy all the first born, but the blood applied to their doorposts provided protection against the destruction. The Blood of Jesus shed when applied to my life protects me from destruction attempted by Satan.

2. The Blood Provides a Means of Deliverance

By the blood of the lamb, came the breaking of the yoke of Pharaoh's strength to retain them, and God's covenant people were released from bondage. Whenever the enemy comes to oppress us, bring sickness, or temptation, the Blood of Jesus can bring deliverance. When we come to the Lord's Table for Communion, we're celebrating in Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God who shed His blood for our protection and deliverance.

3. The Blood Provides the Promise of a New Day

The Lord makes the Passover an important beginning point: "This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year." Exodus 12:2 (NIV). God showed them that the blood opens the door to a new beginning, a way where there seems to be no way.

4. The Blood Provides a Witness

The blood over the door was a testimony that it was a place of safety to escape death. The record of Scripture is that there were some Egyptians who escaped death. Seeing the power of the God who had already visited fierce judgements upon their land, they believed and fled into the Jewish households.

We have to practise walking in the shadow of the blood of Jesus so that others will want what we have. They will start asking us to pray for them, opening the door for ministry, even in the face of ridicule. For the Israelites, there was a risk in putting the blood over the outside of their doors. Regardless of the possibility of being ridiculed they obeyed God.

By the next day, when the Egyptians awoke to mourning and the loss of their firstborn, no one thought the people who put blood on their houses were just superstitious or stupid. They knew those people had penetrated a realm of divine power that had insulated them from death. This is pleading the blood of Jesus.

Pleading the blood of Jesus is a heaven-given resource that grants us a license to stand in dominion over the works of hell, demonic, physical, or personal attack, condemnation or the temptation to sin.

There is no life circumstance to which the blood of Jesus isn't key to God's releasing, protecting, resolving power.

Alleluia for the BLOOD OF JESUS!

Please say this prayer with me:

Thank you that there is power, salvation and protection in the Blood of Jesus Christ. Satan has no power over me. I apply the Blood of Jesus Christ to my eyes so that I may see into the Spirit realm with clarity. Cleanse them of any defilement, wickedness, or garbage I have watched that is not of You.

I apply the Blood of Jesus Christ to my ears. Cleanse my ears of any defilement, wickedness or gossip that I have listened to, so that I might hear clearly from you Lord.

I apply the Blood of Jesus Christ to my lips and tongue. Cleanse me, Lord, of my spoken word that really haven't been of You at all.

Father, I apply the Blood of Jesus Christ to my heart and mind, my thoughts and emotions so that I may serve You.

Father, I apply the Blood of Jesus Christ to my feet. Cleanse me from the corruption of this world and those places I have walked that haven't been ordered of You.

Lord, I receive your Word that says, "The steps of a righteous man are ordered by the Lord." I will walk in holiness.

Praise you, Lord! Cleanse me from the top of my head to the soles of my feet with the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
