Rudyard Spencer, the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) deputy leader for Area Council 3, has admitted that the Member of Parliament for Manchester Central, the People's National Party's Peter Bunting, is giving the Government “a hard time”.

“Every parliamentary committee he questions them on a political basis, not what the committee is supposed to do,” Spencer complained to labourites in Northern Clarendon on Sunday.

Bunting has taken the government to task over the management of the Firearm Licensing Authority and was at the forefront of the pouncing on alleged corruption in the Ministry of Science and Technology and its agencies.

A seemingly vexed Spencer declared that at the next general election the JLP will be targeting Bunting's seat.

Spencer said the JLP’s Area Council 3 has not been able to wrestle Manchester from the PNP in recent times, but said the party in preparing for battle when the prime minister calls the next general election.

General elections are constitutionally due in 2021.
